Injury types and severity
The injury types differ between the countries. This is probably due to differences in fishing techniques and equipment used. The distribution of injury severity, based on length of sick leave, are about equal in the two countries. Severe injuries requiring absence of work for more than three days predominate with 77% of the cases in Norway and 89% in Finland. The known effect of underreporting minor injuries probably influences the data, but it cannot be determined, how it affects the calculated values and differences between the countries.
